Nutanix has hosted a successful virtual Database Summit for customers and organisations looking to modernise data operations and simplify database management. The event delivered insights and best practices from customers and experts on their journey to DBaaS (Database-as-a-Service) and took place on June 15.
“Modern workloads place a significant demand on databases which legacy environments can’t keep pace with. When coupled with at-the-minute development, growing security issues, and the proliferation of the hybrid cloud, existing database structures are under extreme pressure,” said Andrew Brinded, SVP & GM EMEA at Nutanix. “In this discussion, we unpacked how customers are increasingly turning to DBaaS solutions that offer them cloud efficiencies and flexibility, but with the operational and security oversight they have grown accustomed to from existing database implementations.”

Robert Nelson, Information Technology Department from Kuwait Investment Company, shared his experience on modernising critical core banking applications in the cloud era. Exclusive sessions exploring the open source DBaaS journey were spearheaded by Peter Zaitsev, founder and CEO, Percona, Álvaro Hernández founder and CEO, Ongres and Piyush Saxena, Global Hybrid Cloud Head, HCL.
