How AI-native networks are set to revolutionise retail and education in the Middle East

In 2025 the networking industry is poised for further change and innovation, with much of this development enabling and improving how organisations leverage more, higher quality data from technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). This is particularly relevant in the Middle East, where digital transformation is a cornerstone of economic and societal development. Retail and education, two vital sectors in the region, stand to gain significantly by adopting AI-Native Networks that help to drive operational efficiency and improve customer and student experiences.

By using data as a strategic asset and having the correct networking technology in place, retailers and educators in the Middle East will have immediate access to a plethora of relevant information that was previously unattainable. Insights gained thus will enable them to understand their end users — whether they be customers, students, buyers and marketers, academic researchers, or employees — far better than ever before.

Retail giants in the UAE and Saudi Arabia are already leveraging AI to deliver hyper-personalised shopping experiences, with platforms such as Noon and Amazon offering tailored product suggestions and faster transactions. Similarly, educational institutions are continuing to employ data analytics to better understand the needs of diverse, dynamic student populations.

This deeper understanding allows organisations to go beyond broad assumptions, instead offering highly targeted, tailored and enhanced solutions, services and products. For IT teams, this means improving user satisfaction whilst also optimising resource allocation. In the region’s competitive retail sector, such capability is crucial for brands to be able to retain high-value customers and enhance their market positioning.

Transforming Middle Eastern retail with network data

Retailers in the Middle East, especially those operating in fast-growing, urban regional hubs such as Dubai and Riyadh, can use network data to optimise logistical processes, reduce faults and errors and allocate resources more effectively. Insights into consumer habits help to minimise costs while meeting sustainability goals – a priority outlined in many regional visions, such as Saudi Vision 2030.

Middle Eastern consumers, particularly younger demographics such as Generation Z, increasingly expect seamless, digitally integrated shopping experiences. Data collected through online platforms and in-store technologies, such as smart shelves and video analytics, allows retailers to meet these demands much more easily. By combining behavioural data with regional preferences, retailers can create campaigns and curated stock that cater well to local cultures while maintaining global appeal.

Additionally, demographic insights, including age, language and location, help brands to refine their marketing strategies. For instance, understanding shopping habits in the upcoming holy month of Ramadan will enable retailers across the region to align inventory and promotions with seasonal demand, delivering an enhanced customer experience.

Ultimately, networking data provides retailers with valuable insights into customer preferences and shopping habits, enabling them to personalise experiences, optimise store layouts and improve overall sales strategies – all while keeping the customer satisfied across online and in-store experiences. Across the Middle East, smart solutions are becoming widely used, and endorsed by national agendas, to enhance student experience. With these innovations, students are able to switch between in-person, hybrid and fully online courses. Integrating data therefore means that educators can tailor support and interventions based on engagement data, allowing students to receive the resources they need to succeed, regardless of how they attend classes.

A further area where universities can adopt insightful network data is via campus area monitoring. They can use relevant data to observe which areas of a campus are most frequently used, allowing them to create more comfortable and welcoming environments. For instance, understanding high-traffic zones preferred by students can inform decisions on factors such as optimising air conditioning, seating, lighting and other amenities to better meet students’ needs and increase footfall.

By using data to enhance physical spaces and also inform services such as study areas, social spaces, and resource accessibility, universities can offer more targeted support that fosters both academic success and personal well-being.

Overall, insight obtained from the network can be used to enhance all industries, but its impact will be notably transformative for the fields of retail and education. In retail, network data can refine personalisation, optimise supply chains, anticipate consumer trends and ultimately increase profitability whilst delivering an improved network user experience through better network performance. In education, network data offers unprecedented opportunities to better understand academic performance, behavioural health tracking and campus area monitoring, ultimately improving the mental wellbeing of students.
