Huawei has unveiled a slate of new products at its recent “Fashion Next” launch event in Dubai, including the HUAWEI Pura 80 Series smartphones and the HUAWEI MatePad 11.5 tablet. The company also announced that the XMAGE Awards 2025 will return to Paris, coinciding with Paris Photo at the Grand Palais later this year.
The Pura 80 Series, comprising the Pro and Ultra models, places a strong emphasis on mobile imaging. Both models feature a 1-inch Ultra Lighting HDR camera and Ultra Chroma Camera designed for high image clarity and colour accuracy. The Pura 80 Ultra introduces a Switchable Dual Telephoto Camera system, which combines a large sensor with dual lenses to improve image quality across various focal lengths.
The devices also showcase a distinctive design approach, drawing on both eastern and western influences, with Huawei highlighting a “glazed texture” finish as part of its manufacturing process.
Huawei also introduced the MatePad 11.5, aimed at students and professionals. The tablet features an 11.5-inch FullView display with 2.5K resolution and PaperMatte technology, which is intended to reduce eye strain. The device includes a 10,100 mAh battery, the third-generation HUAWEI M-Pencil with magnetic wireless charging, and updated versions of Huawei Notes and the GoPaint app.
At the same event, Huawei announced that the XMAGE Awards 2025, its global smartphone photography competition, opened for submissions on June 11. Now in its eighth year, the competition includes eight categories and introduces a new format called XMAGE 100. The final awards ceremony and accompanying exhibition will be held at the Grand Palais in Paris during Paris Photo.
The Dubai launch event marks Huawei’s continued focus on integrating imaging capabilities and design innovation across its device lineup, while also using photography as a platform to engage users globally.
