du has announced a landmark agreement with Microsoft to build a hyperscale data centre in the UAE, with an estimated investment of $544.54 million. The announcement was made during Dubai AI Week, underscoring the nation’s growing ambitions to establish itself as a global hub for artificial intelligence and digital innovation.
According to du, the hyperscale facility will be developed and operated by the company, with Microsoft as the primary tenant. The center’s capacity will be delivered in phases, designed to meet the rising demand for large-scale data storage and cloud computing services in the region.
“This deal represents a pivotal leap in our strategic goal to revolutionise the digital ecosystem of the UAE,” said Fahad Al Hassawi, CEO of du.
This new centre marks a significant addition to du’s existing infrastructure, which currently includes five data centres across the country.
As global tech leaders invest heavily in digital transformation, the UAE continues to position itself at the forefront of technological advancement, particularly in areas such as AI, cloud computing, and smart infrastructure.
