The UAE Government has announced a strategic collaboration with Google to provide university students with a one-year complimentary subscription to Google Gemini Pro, the company’s advanced generative AI platform. The initiative aims to empower students with cutting-edge AI tools to enhance learning, research, and creativity, supporting the objectives of the UAE’s National AI Strategy.
His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted that the UAE, under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is committed to developing national talent and fostering an AI-driven knowledge economy. “Our vision is to leverage technology and AI to build capabilities, boost efficiency, and accelerate innovation across sectors, shaping a future of knowledge, creativity, and sustainable progress,” he said.
Anthony Nakache, Google’s Managing Director for the Middle East & North Africa, noted a 110% surge in searches for AI and education-related topics in the UAE over the past two months, reflecting growing interest in technology-driven learning. Nakache emphasised that the partnership ensures all university students in the country can access Gemini’s latest models and features to enhance their academic and research capabilities.
The Google Gemini Pro suite offers a variety of tools to support students:
- Gemini 2.5 Pro – Handles complex tasks like research analysis and brainstorming.
- Deep Research – Generates comprehensive research reports from multiple online sources.
- NotebookLM – Organises ideas and provides rich audio and video overviews.
- Veo 3 – Converts text or images into short, dynamic videos with sound.
- 2 TB Storage – Plenty of space for notes, projects, photos, and documents.
Eligible students over 18 can register for the 12-month complimentary access using their personal email addresses before December 9, 2025.
