SentinelOne successfully concluded its inaugural OneConnect Dubai, held at the Marriott Resort Palm Jumeirah, Dubai in partnership with IDC and AWS.
OneConnect Dubai 2024 brought together industry leaders and professionals to explore the essential role of AI in digital transformation and cybersecurity, and its value in helping organisations anticipate and counteract emerging threats more effectively than ever before.
And it happened at a pivotal time. Security technologies have evolved over the past decade, from legacy systems to cloud-based, AI-driven solutions, and the event highlighted the benefits of cloud security solutions, emphasising their scalability and flexibility. The UAE is one of the world’s largest IoT users, driving the country’s focus on enhancing cloud and IoT security within its National Cybersecurity Strategy. As the UAE’s frameworks evolve, future policies are expected to incorporate AI maturity and security regulations to align with global standards.
At OneConnect Dubai 2024, participants gained access to insights and best practices for staying updated on the latest technologies, understanding their practical applications, and strategically implementing them to reinforce security.
The event opened with a keynote from Meriam ElOuazzani, Senior Regional Director META, SentinelOne, that laid out how technology is radically transforming cybersecurity.
“The pace of this transformation is astonishing, especially with the rapid rise of AI,” she said. This shift has fundamentally altered the cybersecurity landscape, and we are witnessing AI versus AI battles, where AI attacks demand AI defences.”
ElOuazzani also noted several key trends that will fuel additional change in the year ahead. “Over the past few years, we’ve seen three major shifts: the exponential growth of modern applications and distributed environments, an unprecedented rise in connected devices – from 20 billion in 2019 projected to double in 2025 – and a surge in IT spending on cloud infrastructure, expected to jump from 17% in 2019 to 51% by 2025,” she said. “These changes call for a fresh approach to cybersecurity; traditional methods are no longer sufficient. Now, more than ever, organisations must rethink, redesign, and reimagine how they secure their digital landscapes.”
His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity Council for the UAE Government virtually addressed the gathering, noting the rapid technological development and opportunities brought by AI and emphasising its significant role in innovation and business efficiency.
Attendees also gained insights into the unique threat landscape across the Middle East and the ways SentinelOne is actively tackling these regional challenges leveraging the capabilities of the Singularity Platform and advancements in Purple AI.
