The German government and SAP have marked the graduation of a group of Egyptian youth from SAP’s digital skills development programme.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH marked the start of the latest cohort of the SAP Young Professional Program in Egypt in November 2019.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH marked the start of the latest cohort of the SAP Young Professional Program in Egypt in November 2019.

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) along with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and global technology company SAP have marked the graduation of a group of Egyptian youth from SAP’s digital skills development program, SAP Young Professional Program, supporting Egypt Vision 2030 in creating youth jobs in the Digital Economy.

In support of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT)’s goals to create 100,000 ICT jobs by 2022, the SAP Young Professional Program has already graduated 11 cohorts in Egypt since 2013. Over 99 percent of program graduates have secured meaningful work opportunities in the SAP ecosystem of customers and partners.

Participants of the Young Professional Program undergo a rigorous selection process before embarking on a three-month full-time training program designed to equip young professionals with skills in the latest SAP technologies – including two formal global SAP certifications – as well as soft and future skills needed to succeed in the modern workplace. This makes every graduate of the program immediately employable in a range of public and private sector companies.

Ahmed Harby, who graduated from the Young Professional Program in 2017 and is now an Associate Project Manager and SAP S/4HANA FICO Consultant at Egyptian International Motors, said the program helped him to kickstart a successful career. “Graduating from the Young Professional Program has allowed me a head start at Egypt International Motors, giving me the skills and confidence to support the company’s digital transformation journey and grow my career,” said Harby.

The latest SAP Young Professional Program in Egypt is part of a collaboration between SAP and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH with the aim to jointly create 450 jobs for highly-qualified personnel in the IT sector in ten African countries over the course of three years. The cooperation project is part of the special initiative “Training and Job Creation” and the develoPPP.de program that GIZ implements on behalf of BMZ.

“Germany and SAP joining forces in Egypt shows how public-private partnerships can create a quadruple win,” said Marita Mitschein, Senior Vice President Digital Skills Southern Europe, Middle East and Africa SAP, and Managing Director SAP Training and Development Institute. “Unemployed or underemployed Egyptian university graduates find meaningful work, customers and partners hire top talent, the Egyptian government supports its Vision 2030 goals in fostering youth job creation, and the Egyptian society and economy is set for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Further supporting youth job creation, SAP’s Digital Skills for Today program, with Injaz Egypt, has reached 1,000 university students across 22 governates in 2019 to develop entrepreneurial solutions for businesses.

“Egyptian youth are connected, educated, and eager to become digital leaders,” said Hoda Mansour, Managing Director, SAP Egypt, one of Forbes ME’s Top 100 Power Businesswomen. “SAP’s innovations combined with its partnerships and digital skill build efforts help organisations across Egypt to thrive in the Digital Era.”

Showing SAP’s commitment to Egypt, the company has been recognised by the Top Employers Institute as a Top Employer 2020 in Egypt for its working environment and ‘people-first’ Human Resources practices.
