A global alliance of technology leaders—G42, OpenAI, Oracle, NVIDIA, SoftBank Group, and Cisco—has launched Stargate UAE, a major artificial intelligence infrastructure cluster to be developed in Abu Dhabi.
Announced in the presence of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Stargate UAE will be housed within the newly established UAE–US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi. Spanning 10 square miles and powered by a mix of nuclear, solar, and natural gas energy, the 5-gigawatt campus represents the largest AI infrastructure deployment outside the United States.
The Stargate UAE project, to be built by G42 and operated jointly with OpenAI and Oracle, will feature a 1-gigawatt AI compute cluster. The first 200-megawatt portion is expected to go live in 2026. Cisco will provide secure, AI-ready networking infrastructure, while NVIDIA supplies its cutting-edge Grace Blackwell GB300 systems. SoftBank Group backs the project as part of its global AI investment vision.
This initiative is part of the US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership, designed to foster safe, responsible, and collaborative AI advancement. In line with this, UAE entities are also set to increase AI-related infrastructure investments in the U.S., including the development of Stargate U.S.
The Stargate UAE project aims to drive innovation across industries such as healthcare, energy, finance, and transportation, positioning the UAE as a global leader in AI. It also establishes a model for digital sovereignty and national-scale compute infrastructure.
Leaders of the partner organisations lauded the project as a turning point in global AI collaboration. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman described it as the first major milestone in the company’s “OpenAI for Countries” initiative. Oracle’s Larry Ellison highlighted its role in enabling sovereign, AI-powered national infrastructure. NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang, Cisco’s Chuck Robbins, and SoftBank’s Masayoshi Son echoed the sentiment, celebrating the UAE’s visionary approach to technological innovation.
With Stargate UAE, the UAE steps boldly onto the world stage as a hub for AI excellence—setting a new benchmark for international tech cooperation and digital future-building.
