Oracle has announced that the Government of the Sultanate of Oman has implemented Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer

Oracle Oman

Oracle has announced that the Government of the Sultanate of Oman has implemented Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer to accelerate its cloud-led digital transformation across government and semi government entities.

The implementation, which is led by ITHCA (Oman Information and Communications Technology Group), helps the Oman Government run its entire IT estate on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with physical control of infrastructure and data to accommodate the sultanate’s data sovereignty requirements.

“The go-live of Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer is a major step toward strengthening Oman’s digital infrastructure for the modern economy and boosting the government’s cyber security preparedness,” said His Highness Sayyid Kamil Fahd Al said, Chairman, Oman ICT Group.  “With Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer, we have access to full public cloud capabilities on-premises to meet Oman’s data residence and data privacy requirements. This in-country infrastructure capability allows us to run all our IT services on a cloud infrastructure with physical control of infrastructure and data to help meet our country’s regulatory, data residency, latency requirements, and help boost the Sultanate’s digital economy.

Following this implementation, ITHCA with its local partners will be able to bring new applications and services online more efficiently and cost-effectively than with an on-premises platform.

Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer includes full management capabilities and access to new features and functions as they become available in Oracle’s public cloud.

“With Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer, the Government of Oman now has access to a fully managed cloud region that brings all of Oracle’s next-generation cloud services, including Autonomous Database, to the government’s data centers,” said

Said Al-Mandhari, Chief Executive Officer, Oman ICT Group.

“With Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer, the Oman Government has prioritised a cloud-first approach to create an agile, efficient, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure that allows the government to modernise legacy applications, boost innovation, and implement additional physical security controls to protect sensitive workloads and data,” said Nick Redshaw, senior vice president, Cloud, Middle East and Africa, Oracle.

The U.S. Ambassador to Oman Leslie M. Tsou said, “I am proud that the Omani government has chosen to partner with Oracle to help it achieve its goals under Oman Vision 2040,” said Ambassador Tsou.  “U.S. companies like Oracle represent the gold standard for excellence in the technology sector.”

Designed for single-tenant usage, the Oman Government’s Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer is a self-contained region where all data, including API operations and metadata, remain local to the region.

Additionally, Oracle Dedicated Region Cloud@Customer is certified to run Oracle Cloud Applications, including Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM), Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Oracle Advertising and Customer Experience (CX), making it a completely integrated cloud experience on-premises.
