Rania Wehbi, IBM BU Director, GBM, on how AI and hybrid cloud solutions are enabling secure, intelligent, and future-ready enterprise transformation

GITEX GLOBAL 2025: GBM on driving intelligent, secure, and AI-enabled transformation

What are Gulf Business Machines (GBM)’s key themes or innovations being showcased at GITEX GLOBAL 2025?

At GITEX 2025, we are focusing on AI-enabled solutions and our hybrid cloud strategy, all underpinned by our robust security and governance solutions. Under the theme “Explore a more intelligent future”, we are showcasing how governments and enterprises can scale intelligently, operate securely, and accelerate growth in line with the region’s vision of a sovereign, AI-enabled, and diversified economy.

How is GBM helping enterprises navigate digital transformation in areas like AI, hybrid cloud, and cybersecurity?

At GBM, we guide enterprises through the digital transformation journey by combining agentic AI with automated cybersecurity solutions to build intelligent, resilient, and secure operations. Our GBM AI Framework provides a structured approach for AI adoption, from strategy and data readiness to model fine-tuning, deployment, and governance, helping customers scale AI responsibly across all business functions.

With agentic AI at the core, we focus on automation and integration to build intelligent agents that accelerate meaningful business outcomes. On this foundation, GBM Cloud X, our agentic AI-powered platform, enables IT modernisation through autonomous monitoring, self-healing, and proactive remediation. Together, GBM Cloud X and the GBM AI Framework, underscored by our security solutions, empower customers with the right tools to scale AI and achieve tangible business results.

How have AI and generative AI tools impacted regional enterprises, and what are best practices for implementation?

AI and generative AI are already delivering measurable short-term impacts across the region. Generative AI, in particular, is driving content variation, enabling faster knowledge discovery, reducing costs, and accelerating time-to-market. In sectors such as banking, retail, and government, early successes include fraud detection, personalised customer experiences, and improved service delivery.

To truly scale agentic AI, transformation must extend beyond digital processes and touch business and organisational change. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, but regional leaders should adopt a structured strategy that aligns AI initiatives with measurable business outcomes.

Implementing robust governance frameworks is critical to ensure data security and the ethical use of AI. Equally important is fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, which helps organisations extract long-term value from AI adoption. Collaborating with trusted technology partners can further accelerate implementation, reduce risks, and unlock the full potential of AI solutions.

What unique perspective or insight do you hope to share with GITEX 2025 attendees?

At GITEX 2025, we look forward to showcasing how GBM’s 35+ years of local expertise, combined with global technology solutions and partners, uniquely position us as a trusted advisor for complex regional business challenges. Our focus on innovative AI solutions helps customers accelerate adoption while ensuring deployments are secure, governed, and ethical.

Through thought leadership, real-world use cases, and live demos, we aim to demonstrate how organisations can thrive by adopting tailored, future-ready solutions.
