Salam and Water Transmission Company to explore connectivity opportunities

Etihad Salam Telecom Company (Salam) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Water Transmission Company (WTCO) to explore opportunities for collaboration in connectivity services and support the development of advanced digital infrastructure across the Kingdom. The partnership was announced at LEAP 2026, where Salam is participating as a strategic sponsor under the theme, “Powering what’s next”.

The MoU establishes a framework for both companies to explore potential business opportunities in connectivity services, leveraging their respective infrastructure and capabilities to enable reliable, scalable, and high-capacity connectivity solutions.

Commenting on the partnership, Eng. Mohammed Al-Jadah, Chief Strategic Planning and Development Officer at WTCO, said: “Our partnership with Salam represents a significant strategic opportunity to explore how our extensive infrastructure capabilities can effectively support the Kingdom’s rapidly evolving digital connectivity requirements. Through establishing strategic partnerships and optimising the utilisation of national infrastructure assets, we aim to maximise the value of Water Transmission Company’s asset portfolio while actively contributing to the development of resilient, sustainable, and future-ready infrastructure that drives digital transformation and reinforces the Kingdom’s position as a regional hub for infrastructure innovation, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.”

As part of the collaboration, Salam and WTCO will assess the technical and commercial feasibility of potential connectivity opportunities, including evaluating infrastructure requirements, potential routes, interconnection options, and delivery models.

Eng. Amjad Arab, Chief Carrier and Wholesale Officer at Salam, said: “Our collaboration with Water Transmission Company represents a significant milestone in Salam’s ongoing commitment to expanding our connectivity capabilities through strategic collaboration with key national infrastructure stakeholders. We are proactively exploring opportunities to leverage complementary infrastructure assets to enhance the reach, scalability, and resilience of our network infrastructure, facilitate high-capacity connectivity solutions, and drive sustainable value creation. Today’s announcement aligns with our commitment to supporting the continued growth and advancement of Saudi Arabia’s digital ecosystem, fully aligned with the Kingdom’s ambitious digital transformation objectives under Vision 2030.”

The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of Salam and WTCO to exploring innovative infrastructure models that can enhance connectivity, maximise the value of existing national assets, and contribute to the development of a robust and future-ready digital infrastructure ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.
