Cybersecurity is a vital component for a secure cloud-led digital-first world. Evolving market circumstances and business models have exponentially increased the fast-changing threat landscape. In fact, the 2021 World Economic Forum report on global risks reveals that cybersecurity measures put in place by businesses, governments and individuals are increasingly being made obsolete by the growing sophistication of cybercriminals. It is therefore critical to think about cybersecurity right from the coding stage. This is a key point for regional CISOs to bear in mind as they navigate complex and dynamic cyber incidents, says Nitin Kumar Dang, Regional Director, India, Middle East and Africa at Checkmarx.

He says, “Attackers are always two-steps ahead of us and security threats are dramatically growing. The focus should be on how quickly you can mitigate any potential risks. As a vendor our aim is to respond immediately to a risk, act as quickly as possible to mitigate it so that we can cut down the risk pattern for the customer. Wherever there is coding, there will be security lapses, which is why the focus must be on DevSecOps.

“Shift left security mindset needs to be nurtured. Therefore, regional CISOs must refocus their priorities. They now need to undertake the right methods to implement their visions for cybersecurity effectively while ensuring it suits their operations. At the development stage itself, security needs to be examined and implemented. Regional IT heads also need to look at API security and container security. These are the areas where Checkmarx can play an integral role.”

Offering end-to-end solutions and services for AppSec, Checkmarx is doubling down its focus on the Middle East region. The global software company enables DevSecOps to simplify security – in code, deployment scripts, open-source dependencies, containers, microservices and so on.

Dang says, “Our focus is to significantly grow the Middle East market. We are investing in more personnel and resources in this region. We have seen a great response for Checkmarx AST Platform and look forward to delivering its benefits to more businesses this year. The Middle East market is advanced, and customers here understand technology, and know the core competencies the technology can offer them.

“Checkmarx integrates with almost all technologies and supports all platforms, making it easier for organisations to deploy our offerings with their existing tech investments and combine with other solutions seamlessly.”

The company expects to double its business in the Middle East market by the end of this year.

“If you look at it from a three-year period, we are going to be at a 500% growth at the end of the year and we are on track to meet this objective,” Dang adds.
