Global cybersecurity firm OPSWAT has officially opened its OPX Lab in Dubai, a new facility designed to simulate real-world cyber threats targeting critical infrastructure. The lab is the first of its kind in the region and aims to support organisations in key sectors such as energy, banking, and defence by providing a practical environment to test cybersecurity defences.
Described as both immersive and interactive, the OPX Lab allows existing and potential customers to engage with live cyberattack scenarios tailored to their specific operational environments. “This isn’t just a demo, it’s a proving ground,” said Saif AlRefai, Solutions Engineering Manager at OPSWAT. “The OPX Lab brings to life the kinds of cyber threats our customers face every day. It allows them to test how our technologies detect, prevent and respond to those threats in a fully controlled, hands-on environment. That level of experience translates into faster, more informed security decisions and a higher level of operational resilience.”
One of the standout features of the lab is a model nuclear plant reactor, which demonstrates how OPSWAT’s IT/OT cybersecurity platform can be applied to highly sensitive environments. “It’s this kind of realism that allows clients to move beyond theory and gain meaningful insights into their actual security readiness,” AlRefai added.
The Dubai lab is part of OPSWAT’s broader OPX Labs initiative, aimed at bringing critical infrastructure simulation closer to high-risk markets. Dubai was chosen for its accessibility, regional importance, and proximity to enterprise customers and cybersecurity professionals.
The lab also serves as a technical enablement centre for OPSWAT’s channel partners. “Experiencing live demonstrations of real-world cyberattack scenarios and seeing how OPSWAT’s technologies such as MetaDefender and NetWall Data Diodes mitigate those threats was truly eye-opening,” said Tareq Joudeh, Senior Business Unit Head at StarLink.
