Datamount has launched Oman’s largest commercial data centre in Oman. Located in Jebel Akhdar, the new data center spans 9,000 square meters, to accommodate around 1,000 racks. The company will leverage the state of the art facility to offer a range of data centre services to the public and private sector in the Sultanate.

The data centre was officially launched at a ceremony attended by His Highness Sayyid Shihab Bin Tariq Al Said, Adviser to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The data centre was designed by data centre service providers, NxtGen Data Center & Cloud Technologies, with Awasr as strategic telecom service provider and Avaya providing cloud communications services. Datamount also signed up with Pulse Information Technologies for building a mini data center of 20 racks.

Dr Tahir al Kindi, chairman of the company said: “Corporates require to focus on their core businesses. The need for cloud services, ICT outsourcing, disaster recovery and other secure ICT-related services has been growing rapidly within the country, due to increasing digital transformation of transactions and customer services. Jebel Akdhar is an ideal and secure location for a disaster recovery site.”
