Samsung Electronics has unveiled its latest foldable smartphone lineup, introducing the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. The new range expands Samsung’s foldable portfolio with three distinct devices, each designed for different use cases spanning productivity, entertainment and compact everyday mobility.
Leading the lineup is the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Samsung’s most advanced foldable to date. The device features an 8-inch main display, measures 4.1mm when unfolded and weighs 215g. Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it includes a 5,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging, a redesigned graphite cooling structure and a 200MP main camera alongside a new 50MP ultra-wide sensor. The device also supports 8K video recording using the APV codec and introduces Cine LUT for on-device colour grading.
The Galaxy Z Fold8 is positioned as Samsung’s lightest Fold model yet at 201g. It combines the same Snapdragon processor with a 4,800mAh battery and dual 50MP rear cameras. Samsung has introduced a new Flex Titanium display structure across the Fold range, designed to improve durability while reducing crease visibility. The Fold8 also delivers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, Vision Booster and a low-reflection display for improved outdoor visibility.
For users prioritising portability, the Galaxy Z Flip8 weighs 180g and measures 6.1mm thick, making it Samsung’s slimmest Flip device to date. It features an upgraded AI-enabled FlexWindow, a 50MP camera powered by the ProVisual Engine, FlexCam enhancements, Super Steady video with Horizontal Lock and hands-free shooting through Flex Mode.
Across all three devices, Samsung has integrated Galaxy AI experiences tailored to each form factor. New features include Now Brief, which surfaces personalised information throughout the day, Now Nudge for context-aware recommendations, and expanded Gemini Intelligence capabilities that support cross-app automation across more than 40 supported apps and services. Gemini Notebook also allows users to organise notes, images, recordings and documents into a single workspace.
Samsung has also introduced new security and privacy features with One UI 9. These include the AI Assistant Activity dashboard, which provides a centralised view of AI automations, alongside Privacy Alerts that notify users of potential background permission risks. The devices continue to be protected by Samsung Knox, Personal Data Engine, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) and Knox Vault.
“As AI becomes more agentic, mobile devices will become the most personal entry point to experiences that understand and adapt to each user,” said TM Roh, Chief Executive Officer, President and Head of the Device eXperience (DX) Division at Samsung Electronics. “By setting a new standard for foldables, we are once again advancing the premium mobile experience and opening the next era of intelligence to more people.”
The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Fold8 and Flip8 are available for pre-order in select markets from 22 July. Samsung said customers purchasing the devices will receive a six-month trial of Google AI Pro, while Smart Switch has also been updated to simplify data migration from both Android and iOS devices.
