Dubai Computer Group (DCG) continues to play the role of connecting businesses and enabling them to thrive, especially during unstable economic environments. DCG has recently hosted a thought-provoking forum at Le Meridien Hotel, Dubai, under the theme ‘Bridging businesses, Connecting Ideas’.

At the event, its 200-plus members had the opportunity to network and address the challenges and impacts of rapid pace of technology evolution. The event was co-sponsored by Lexmark and ASBIS Middle East was the support partner for the evening. DCG hosted Vasudevan K.S, MD, NAVO, as the headline speaker for the event who presented on “Respond to Future Proofing your business”.

DCG is spearheading the initiative to help its members transform market disruptions into opportunities so that they can efficiently scale and expand their businesses.

In his welcome address, Dharmendra L. Sawlani, President, DCG, said this is possible only by ‘business remodelling’. “We have to work together as a community to counter the challenges in the market. Fast-paced technology shift and market decentralisation are the realities that we face today. We have to move from simply motivating ourselves to taking concrete directions towards future-proofing and strengthening our businesses.”

Sawlani went on to update the attendees on the current market situation. He said that payment cycles are getting even longer. Also, while the industry has been stable over the past two quarters without any case of resellers fleeing the market, the sales have continued to be sluggish.

“We are hoping this will improve over the coming months. Focusing on skill development and future proofing your operations are the need of the hour.”

Vasudevan said, “The future will be dominated by new and innovative technology. Retraining and upskilling will be constant in the business.

“The market will not identify the future for us, we must do that. I believe in the future the need to anticipate what is going to be the next innovation will get stronger.”

He also encouraged attendees to leverage the power of ‘adjacency’ as a future-proof tool.

Channel partners need to ascertain other revenue streams that are complementary to their existing businesses to ensure business continuity and growth.

Khalaf Al Otaiba, Chairman of DCG was present during the forum and commended the initiative. He said, “It is important for partners and business owners to find innovative ways to sustain and future-proof their businesses.”
